The Tenth Doctor & Donna return to Who univers in Big Finish productions

David Tennant & Catherine Tate return to Doctor Who on 3 audio dramas with Big Finish Productions. The stories are compiled as Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures and are Technophobia (set in a near-future London in which mankind loses the ability to use technological devices), Time Reaver (set on a mechanical planet with a thriving black market economy and a dark secret) and Death and the Queen (Donna falls for the man of her dreams on a planet called Goritania, but the Doctor isn’t entirely convinced by this fairytale romance).

During the final days of  recording they had a quick chat with the team, interviewed by executive producer Nick Briggs (know for the Dalek voice), filmed and edited by Tom Saunders. Why does Catherine Tate make such a good Doctor Who companion? And why is David Tennant such a good Doctor?

The Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Remote Control

Tenth Doctor Who sonic screwdriver

The Doctor Who team revealed that The Wand Company are releasing an authentic Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Remote Control later this year. It will be previewed at San Diego Comic-Con International in July).

Here’s the Tenth Doctor’s screwdriver (owned by David Tennant himself!) having a 3D scan by Painstakingly for the making of the remote.

The original was kindly loaned to The Wand Company by David Tennant himself, so you should consider that this Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver is a faithful clone, CNC machined from aluminium, crammed full of technology.

Also, it is a fully functioning gesture-based universal remote control that looks, feels and works just like the real prop – utilising sound effects from the BBC archives.

Previewing on the ThinkGeek Booth at San Diego Comic-Con in July, the Tenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver Remote will be available exclusively through selected retailers in the UK, US and Australia in October 2013 on doctorwho.tv. The Screwdriver will retail at £69.95 GBP / $109.95 USD / $129.95 AUD.

Time Leech, Doctor Who comics for charity

I’ve never read the Time Leech comics, so this info about the adventures is new for me. Whatever. I found an article about this and I consider it interested to promote: you can get a copy of this comics and you can help other people.

You may recall that the first Time Leech adventure saw the Tenth Doctor landing in a London where Churchill was Prime Minister, Silurians and Elizabethans rubbed shoulders (seriously, two years beforeThe Wedding of River Song!) and the epicentre was a giant Time Leech in the middle of eating Westminster Abbey.

Following this, the Doctor and his mysterious new companion Ruth headed into space in Hellstar, where they found a deserted prison ship, empty bar a monster and a recovery crew… but they held a terrible secret that no one could have possibly guessed.

The final part, Time Bomb, saw the discovery of a giant Time Lord weapon materializing on Earth. Naturally only the Doctor can prevent detonation, but someone else is interested in the device…

Due to licensing restrictions the three-part Doctor Who strip can’t be published and request payment (BBC’s Doctor Who characters are copyrighted. But there is at least a way to work around the legal troubles.

There will be two targets for the raised funds: Children in Need and AICR (Association for International Cancer Research).

You have two ways to purchase your copy of Time Leech. First, there is the print version, in traditional graphic novel format. This has a price of £4.99 including postage and packing (£9.99 for international orders).

The second choice is the entire adventure in PDF, available for 99p. (We also have a second electronic format, CBR, available. If you require CBR, let us know when you checkout.)
