The Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff Bay opens on July 20 and is expected to bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to Cardiff over the next five years. Until then… according to Standard.co.uk, there is an invasion of Doctor Who monsters on loose in Cardiff: villains from hit sci-fi show Doctor Who went on the rampage a few days ago, in the morning, frightening young and old alike at a range of places throughout the Welsh capital.
After “escaping” from the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff Bay, due to open next month, a Dalek, Cyberman, Scarecrow and Silent made their way to the city centre in time to greet commuters at Cardiff Central Station.
As The Guardian announces, Charlie Brooker, Steven Moffat and Ruth Jones will be among the speakers at this year’s MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival where the MacTaggart lecture will be delivered by Elisabeth Murdoch. The article also says that the opening episode of the seventh series of Doctor Who is to be screened during that event (it will happen 23-25th August 2012).
Doctor Who TV says that a BBC broadcast shortly after (of the first episode of Doctor Who series 7) seems likely.
Last year, Let’s Kill Hitler was shown at the same festival on 26th August. The episode premiered on BBC1 the next day. If the same thing were to happen this year, then we could be looking at Saturday 25th August, which is a bank holiday weekend.
An event that’s already in progress is the Doctor Who experience. I found about it on Facebook events and it’s an interesting one. The period of the event is from 6th of November 2011, 15:00 until 22nd of February 2012, its location is London Olympia Two.
The description of the event is:
STEP INTO THE TARDIS AND BE PART OF THE ADVENTURE…
The Doctor Who Experience promises to be an unmissable adventure featuring an exhilarating and unique walk-through experience and an awe-inspiring exhibition.
Visitors will be invited to step through a crack in time to become the Doctor’s companion on an adventure. Their challenge will be to reunite the Doctor with the TARDIS whilst fending off threats from a Dalek spaceship and Weeping Angels along the way, before exploring the wonders of Doctor Who at an out of this world exhibition.
The Doctor Who multi-sensory Experience is packed with amazing special effects and exclusive filming with Matt Smith and it’s fun for all (family and fansalike). You are invited to join the Doctor on an interactive journey that takes you on a spectacular adventure through time and space. Fly a recreation of the Matt Smith TARDIS and come face-to-face with some of the scariest monsters ever seen on screen including Daleks, Cybermen,Weeping Angels and Sontarans.
The Wooden King and Queen from this year’s Christmas special The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe have escaped their doomed rainforest and can now be seen at the Doctor Who Experience.
One of the events I found out about on Facebook is the next official Doctor Who convention that’s going to happen soon this year:  from 24th of march 2012, 09:00 until 25th of march 2012, 09:00 at The Millennium Centre, Cardiff.
